I return

Oh my word, I can't believe it's been over a year since my last (and 3rd) blog post. Damn. Well I'm back now and I've been cracking on with some new projects which I'll get to ASAP. For now though enjoy some pics of the mini's I've been working on since the last post.

Post apocalyptic death race car converted from cheap pack of three from poundland.

A warband I made of some feral ghouls with a crazed super mutant. Sorry for crappy pic but will take some new ones when I get a chance.

That's all I got piccies of at the moment I'm afraid. Thought I had more. I'll try and get some more taken  asap.
Peace.

Hasslefree Mesaan Army - A Start

I have decided to put an army together of Hasslefree Miniatures excellent aliens, the Mesaans. So far I only have three but have plans to expand this army with more Grunts, the other Boss, some mawes and mini-mawes and also the Kiergi miniatures from Hasslefree. I think they look similar enough to count as a Mesaan unit.

Ein, Zwei, Die!

Expecting my copy of Incursion in the post any day now so I've dug out my West WInd Nazi Zombies. They were painted about a year and a half to two years ago but I've touched them up a bit and rebased them for urban ruins/wasteland/cave etc.

I know they're not technically the Sturmzombies from the Incursion game but I think they'll fit in just fine, especially been from the same manufacturer and even set in the same fictional world.

Hope you like 'em and here are some individual shots of them. Enjoy.

Intro

Hello people, welcome to my Blog.
I am Diakon and I have been playing wargames and painting miniatures for about 2 years now. I was briefly into Games Workshop miniatures and games in the early nineties but kind of drifted away from it when I reached 16 and started to spend the majority of my time with music, booze and, of course, young ladies.
Two years ago my friend Bainbridge bought the special anniversary Space Hulk game and we began making time to play it at least once a week between four of us, the two not playing enjoying the game as spectators.
After a while we began to grow bored of Space Hulk and began to rummage in our parents loft's to see if we had any old miniatures left from when we were younger. I personally didn't but another friend, Anth, managed to dig out a load of Space Marines (both loyal and renegade) and donated the Chaos ones to me. Although I still didn't have quite enough to field an army I bought a box of plastic Bloodletters to help take my new army up to 500 pts. Bainbridge bought the 40k rulebook and we started playing 40k instead of Space Hulk.

I ended up liking the Bloodletters so much that I soon decided to start playing Daemons instead of Chaos Space Marines and bought the Codex, some Plaguebearers and some Flamers. I also picked up some 80's Pink Horrors (from e-Bay) to serve as Heralds of Tzeench. Since then my Daemon army has grown to include a Bloodletter (80's one from e-Bay), two plastic Daemon Princes (one Tzeench, one Nurgle), three plastic Bloodcrushers, a squad of plastic Pink Horrors and The Changeling. 1750 pts all told.

In early 2010 I attended a wargaming show at the York Race Course where I saw many independent companies miniatures and I realised that GW ones weren't actually the best out there. I was particularly fond of Hasslefree Miniatures and purchased several of their miniatures at the show; Suzy, Valaska Syn, Gen on Altar and they threw Zombie Suzy in free for spending over a tenner. Nice.
Although I kind of ruined these mini's with inexperienced paintjobs I did really like them and since then I have bought a load more (such as Deff & TaxxisImogenLiralith,  Shimmer (b) (pictured above) and a bunch of Mesaans (top of page). Through Hasslefree I have also discovered other companies like Back Scorpion and Heresy, who produce models that I really like. I am yet to buy anything from Heresy (though rest assured I will) but I have bought some Tombstone mini's from Black Scorpion and will post pics when I have finished painting them.
Even more recently I have signed up to Lead Adventure Forum and discovered Lead Adventure Miniatures, whose Post Apocalyptic range I absolutely love, as well as loads of other companies I won't even attempt to list, whose miniatures I will be buying the next few months (and will hopefully be appearing in this very blog.
Thanks for reading, hope you enjoy the pics and the next update will be in the next week or so as I finish my new Tombstone models.
